Hymn(3)

Verse 1

Holy Spirit, faithful Guide,
Ever near the Christian’s side;
Gently lead us by the hand,
Pilgrims in a desert land;
Weary souls fore’er rejoice,
While they hear that sweetest voice
Whisper softly, wanderer come!
Follow me, I’ll guide thee home.

Verse 2

Ever present, truest Friend,
Ever near thine aid to lend,
Leave us not to doubt and fear,
Groping on in darkness drear,
When the storms are raging sore,
Hearts grow faint, and hopes give o’er
Whisper softly, wanderer come!
Follow me, I’ll guide thee home.

Verse 3

When our days of toil shall cease,
Waiting still for sweet release,
Nothing left but heaven and prayer,
Wondering if our names were there;
Wading deep the dismal flood,
Pleading nought but Jesus’ blood,
Whisper softly, wanderer come!
Follow me, I’ll guide thee home.

Holy Spirit, Fount of Blessing

Thomas J. Judkin·Modern

Verse 1

Holy Spirit, Fount of blessing,
Ever watchful, ever kind,
Thy celestial aid possessing,
Prisoned souls deliverance find.

Verse 2

Seal of truth, and Bond of union,
Source of light, and Flame of love,
Symbol of divine communion,
In the olive-bearing dove.

Verse 3

Heavenly Guide from paths of error,
Comforter of minds distressed,
When the billows fill with terror;
Pointing to an ark of rest.

Verse 4

Promised Pledge, eternal Spirit,
Greater than all gifts below,
May our hearts thy grace inherit;
May our lips thy glories show!

Thomas J. Judkin, “Holy Spirit, Fount of Blessing”
