Verse 1
Revive thy work, O Lord!
Thy mighty arm make bare;
Speak, with the voice that wakes the dead,
And make thy people hear.
Verse 2
Revive thy work, O Lord!
Disturb this sleep of death;
Quicken the smoldering embers now,
By thine almighty breath.
Verse 3
Revive thy work, O Lord!
Exalt thy precious name;
And, by the Holy Ghost, our love
For thee and thine inflame.
Verse 4
Revive thy work, O Lord!
And give refreshing showers;
The glory shall be all thine own,
The blessing, Lord! be ours.

Verse 1
On the mountain’s top appearing,
Lo! the sacred herald stands,
Welcome news to Zion bearing--
Zion long in hostile lands:
Mourning captive!
God himself shall loose thy bands.
Verse 2
Has thy night been long and mournful?
Have thy friends unfaithful proved?
Have thy foes been proud and scornful?
By thy sighs and tears unmoved?
Cease thy mourning;
Zion still is well beloved.
Verse 3
God, thy God, will now restore thee;
He himself appears thy Friend;
All thy foes shall flee before thee;
Here their boasts and triumph end;
Great deliverance
Zion’s King will surely send.
